Atlus, the creator behind the blockbuster games such as Shin Megami Tensei or the heavily popular Persona series have recently been dissolved due to the financial problem that they are having. Their assets will be transferred to Index Holdings which is their subsidiary owner. However, it also has been confirmed that all future releases from the consolidated company will continue to use the “Atlus” brand where it is needed. But, their history as a distinct entity is at an end though.
Index Holdings is better known for the routine “social” and mobile phone games. It is also happened to be a parent company of a popular anime studio Madhouse known for their works in Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits and Clamp. Eventhough the merger between the two company is supposed to give Atlus an access to these “fortes,” it is highly unlikely fans of major Atlus games titles will expect anything to look forward to in the future with these competencies.
