The global shortage of USB dongles is gonna spread from the Atmel USB chips, over to the Microchip family of PIC’s.

MmueRtTe has tweeted that there is now a working release of the PSGroove over to the PIC Family, using the PIC18F2550 chip.

The code, at the moment is a little rough i would say, you might have to reset it a few times for it to work, due to the fact the PIC is really slower family of micro-controllers, but I am sure it will be improved by the others. Anyhow, it is definitely  a step in the right direction, as i am sure that Atmel factories will not be able to supply the sudden demand of chips for Blackcat or Teensy boards for at least 16 weeks, once the next batch of orders are already paid before they are being processed and shipped.

PLEASE NOTE: Currently the attached files are just source code, you need to be able to use this program: CCS compiler V4.112 to compile the code into an .HEX file, but this program is NOT FREE, plus the chip does not have a pre-programed boot-loader, so you also need to have a PIC programmer to do it or build one yourself.

But I am sure you gonna see people assembling all the goodies soon, then making an easy package for you to buy and ready to go!

Many many thanks to MmUeRtTe for bringing the news to my attention!
