zouzzz from gueux-forum.net has released his Custom Modified Firmware Maker.

With this .NET framework based tool you can apply different patches to the original 3.55 firmware to create modified firmware PUPs for Wutangrza, Kmeaw, Waninkoko and Peek/Poke FW.

Features :

  • Download the official 3.55 fw
  • Creating different custom firmwares
  • Verification (after downloading and creation) of the MD5sum

New / fixed:

  • Addition of bspatch.exe that prevented the integration of patches

NET Framework Version 4 is required.

I checked out this program and it either downloaded the 3.55 original firmware, or when supplied the correct PUP in the Original_3.55_FW folder you can choose the patch you want to apply. After that it opens a CMD screen for bspatch.exe (which btw can take a long time) and popups the info about the created modified PUP.

  • PeekPoke (md5: CD72D63F1A616ECF786FF382BFAE671A):
  • Waninkoko (should be md5: 6EAB7F1DEEA1ED46A1DC9924FD7080B3):
Warning: Dangerous brick issues on several consoles with the old Waninkoko patch!

    second test, in “CMFv11b”:

  • Wutangrza (should be md5: 05933BB7A89BEE87B0AA45C74F980E81):

    second test, in “CMFv11b”:

  • Kmeaw (should be md5: 2BE5E87A22BF1E7F48E98FCABD38977B):

    second test, in “CMFv11b”:

My personal critism:
It does the same as https://dukio.com/gui-cmd-cfw-patcher-v108r3-final-patch-pup-hash-checker.html , and I don’t like the idea that PUPs can be generated so easily, especially if you keep in mind the risks involved in bricking your PS3 and the evolution of MFW at the moment. The next thing you know it, people are still making old modifications, while the original author has released a bugfix or improvement over the old patches. Endusers don’t get this info when using these kind of tools.
Also, this tool still has the “when used in a folder containing spaces” bug which is supposed to be fixed in v1.1b, that makes you end up with md5 “D41D8CD98F00B204E9800998ECF8427E”, which is the md5 of “” because the PUPs are not generated and are NULL/zero byte files. If you move the entire folder to e.g. “CMFv11b” the patching does seem to work as expected.
